500ml double cream
1 tablespoon icing sugar (optional)
6-8 ready made meringue nests (or make your own using our Meringue Kisses recipe, omitting the food colouring)
Wash, hull and slice the strawberries.
Break the meringue into rough bite size chunks.
Whip the cream until thickened.
Take half the strawberries and crush with a fork. Stir into the cream with half the meringue.
Divide the mixture among 6 dessert glasses or tumblers, layering the cream mixture with the remaining strawberry slices and meringue pieces, finishing with some strawberry slices. Serve immediately.
