If you know a die-hard liquorice (licorice for our American friends) fan, this recipe is a must-try. Only 5 ingredients, and you will have an ice cream that is usually only available in specialty ice cream parlours. The regular plain liquorice twists you find in allsorts would work, but the soft eating stuff will melt easier. You could add a little black food colouring for a dramatic version, or trick them by using red liquorice! The flavour here is strong and rich - believe me, just a small, single scoop after dinner with coffee would be enough. Halve the amount of liquorice if you want a less intense flavour, no need to adjust the other quantities. If you're looking for something to sprinkle on top, desiccated coconut would be a good choice (think coconut liquorice rolls in allsorts!).
